How to remove a background from a photo
Upload your photo, wait about six seconds, and download the transparent PNG. There is nothing to install and no settings to choose.

Drag a JPG, PNG, HEIC or WebP onto the upload box, or pick one from your device. Files up to 50 MB are fine — anything larger than about 4000px on the long edge is scaled down in your browser before it is sent, which makes the upload quicker without softening the result.

Let the cut-out run
The model finds the subject and traces its edge, including the parts people usually have to fix by hand: single strands of hair, fur, the gap between an arm and a body, and semi-transparent things like a glass or a veil. It takes about six seconds, sometimes a little less.

Is the background remover really free?
Yes. There is no credit cost, no watermark and no resolution cap on this tool. You do not need an account to run it — an account is only needed if you want your results kept for later.
What happens to my photo after I upload it?
Our server holds it in memory just long enough to run the job and hand the result back — it is never written to disk here, and we keep no copy. To run the cut-out it is passed to our processing provider, which is the one place a copy exists temporarily. We do not use your photos to train anything and nobody looks at them. The privacy page names the provider and its retention.
What file types can I upload?
JPG, PNG, HEIC and WebP, up to 50 MB. HEIC covers photos straight off an iPhone, so you do not need to convert them first.
Do I get a transparent background or a white one?
A transparent PNG with a real alpha channel. If you need a solid white background for a marketplace listing, place the PNG on white in any editor — or use the white background maker when it ships.
Does it handle hair, fur and glass?
Those are the cases the model is specifically trained for, and they are where a quick automatic cut-out usually falls apart. Fine flyaway strands against a busy background are still the hardest case; if a result disappoints, a photo with more contrast between the subject and the background will do better.
Is there a limit on how many photos I can do?
There is a fair-use rate limit per IP address to keep the service up for everyone. Normal use will not hit it. Batch processing is on the roadmap.
